Norwegian puts Copenhagen winter flights on sale following strong demand

Low-cost airline Norwegian has put winter flights from Newcastle Airport to Copenhagen on sale following strong demand.

The popular route has been extended into the winter season, with twice-weekly services operating every Friday and Sunday from October through to January 2027.

With one-way fares starting from just £49.60, travellers have even more opportunities to discover Copenhagen's festive charm, from its world-famous Christmas markets to its spectacular New Year celebrations.

Among the city's most popular winter attractions are its outdoor skating rinks, including Frederiksberg Runddel, where visitors can enjoy a festive skating experience beside the picturesque Frederiksberg Gardens.

No winter visit to Copenhagen would be complete without a trip to Tivoli Gardens – one of the world's oldest amusement parks – which transforms each year into a spectacular winter wonderland.

Filled with dazzling lights, rides and attractions and bustling stalls serving mulled wine, hot chocolate and handcrafted gifts, Tivoli offers a truly memorable experience.

Across the city, cafes and restaurants embrace the festive season by serving delicious, traditional Danish treats such as gløgg – a hot and sweet mulled wine – and the classic Christmas rice pudding dessert risalamande.

Visitors can also immerse themselves in unique local traditions, including the Saint Lucy’s Day celebrations on 13 December. As night falls, hundreds of illuminated kayaks glide through city’s canals, creating one of the season's most magical spectacles.

Chris Ion, Head of Aviation Development at Newcastle Airport, said: “Copenhagen continues to be one of our most popular city-break destinations, so it’s fantastic to see Norwegian extend this route into the winter season.

"This investment gives our passengers even more choice when planning festive getaways and the opportunity to experience Copenhagen at its most magical.

“It also opens the door to welcome more Danish visitors to North East England over the winter season to experience everything our region has to offer."

Sara Neergaard, Country Director at Norwegian Denmark, said: “Strong customer demand has given us the confidence to extend our Newcastle–Copenhagen route into the winter season.

“We continue to see growing interest in city-break travel, and Copenhagen is a destination that has so much to offer during the festive months.

“We’re pleased to provide our customers with more choice and flexibility while further strengthening the connection between North East England and Denmark.”
