Newcastle College Aviation Academy
With a wide range of roles to choose from, excellent career progression and a working-day that's never the same - the opportunities for someone wanting to progress in the aviation industry are endless.
Newcastle Airport has been working closely with Newcastle College since the introduction of the on-site Aviation Academy in 2014.
The Academy offers a range of courses for school-leavers and young adults who have an ambition to work in the aviation industry.
Our Ambassador Programme
Newcastle College's award winning Aviation Academy is located on-site at the Airport.
Students get a unique opportunity to work alongside industry professionals and hone their skills at its first-class training facilities - including a 1,500m2 hangar that houses real aircraft.
The Ambassador Programme is a joint venture between the Airport and Newcastle College and allows students from the Aviation Operations course to spend time on placement at the Airport learning about different departments including Security, Passenger Services, Operations and Air Traffic Control.
It is really rewarding helping the passengers and everyone at the Airport and the College have been so supportive. I am learning new skills and growing in confidence all the time and I am sure this is going to benefit me in whatever career path I choose.

A recipe for success
Aaron and Charlotte joined the Airport having completed their work experience within the Ambassador Programme and now hold pivotal roles within the Airport Operation.
One of four Airport Duty Managers, Charlotte Birkett, said: “I am certain that it was the Ambassador Programme that got me to where I am today. I took part in the programme in my first year. I was then taken on as seasonal staff before being offered a permanent role in Passenger Services, and I've been making my way up the ranks ever since.”
