Newcastle Airport is gearing up for its busiest Christmas period ever, with more than 110,000 passengers expected to travel through the terminal this festive season - a 12% increase on 2024.
The Airport continues to offer one of the widest ranges of destinations in the region, with over 80 direct routes and more than 300 one‑stop global connections available year‑round.
Sun‑seekers are once again heading for winter favourites such as Tenerife, Lanzarote and Dubai, while popular European city break destinations including Dublin and Krakow remain in high demand.
This year has also seen the addition of several new city break routes, with Brussels, Budapest and Wroclaw quickly becoming firm favourites among travellers.
Many passengers are choosing to venture even further afield for the festive season. Thanks to the Airport’s extensive worldwide hub connections, long‑haul destinations such as New York, Bangkok, Sydney and Hong Kong are more accessible than ever.
Nick Jones, CEO of Newcastle Airport, said: “Christmas is always a special time of year for travel, but this festive season is set to be our busiest on record. Welcoming more than 110,000 passengers is a fantastic milestone and reflects the growing demand for the choice, convenience and connectivity we offer.
“Whether people are heading for winter sun, a European city break or long‑haul adventures, we’re proud to be the region’s international gateway and we look forward to helping even more passengers take off in 2026.”
