easyJet has launched its new service between Newcastle Airport and Lisbon, becoming the first and only carrier operate the route.
The first flight took off this morning and the route will continue to operate twice a week on Mondays and Fridays throughout the summer season providing a convenient connection for customers in the North East to the Portuguese capital.
Lisbon, renowned for its historic neighbourhoods, Atlantic coastline, and thriving food scene, is expected to be a popular choice for travellers looking for a summer city break.

Last week, the airline also announced five new routes on sale for this winter from Newcastle to Barcelona, Berlin, Copenhagen, Hurghada and Rovaniemi.
The new winter routes provide an even greater range of destinations whether travellers are looking for a cultural city break, winter sun or a Christmas adventure to Lapland.
