Newcastle International Airport celebrates its four millionth passenger this year
The strong recovery of Newcastle International Airport continues, with 4 million passengers having passed through its doors this year.
The 4 millionth passenger, Neisha from Newcastle, was welcomed by Airport staff after checking in to the Air France flight to Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
To celebrate this milestone, Airport staff gifted Neisha a pair of Air France return tickets to Paris from Newcastle International Airport.
Neisha, who was flying to meet friends in Paris for a “girl’s weekend”, said: “I am so happy to win these tickets and I am really excited to plan my next trip from Newcastle Airport”.
Chris Ion, Aviation Development Manager at Newcastle International Airport, said:
“We are pleased that we are in the position to celebrate our 4 millionth passenger this year, with over 4.1 million passengers expected to travel through the North East's largest Airport by the end of 2022. This milestone reflects the return of strong demand for international travel since restrictions were lifted.”
Air France, part of the Air France-KLM Group, is one of Newcastle International Airport’s 16 airline partners. The airline, which operates up to 14 flights a week, has taken over 100,000 passengers so far this year between Newcastle and Paris-Charles de Gaulle, one of the Airport’s many hub airports.
The Air France service allows passengers to fly directly to Paris, or to connect via the French Capital to destinations across the globe, including Mauritius, Bangkok, New York and many more.
Fahmi Mahjoub, Air France & KLM General Manager (UK and Ireland) said:
“Newcastle International Airport holds a significant place in our UK network and allows us to connect the local community from the Tyneside area to Paris and the rest of the world. We are honoured to be able to support them in creating magical moments like this. Air France would like to congratulate the lucky winners and hope that they enjoy their trip in wonderful Paris.”
