Introduction to Industrial Fire Fighting

This course aims to provide onsite emergency response teams with hands on fire experience in work related situations.  Depending on your individual training needs this course can range from demonstrating correct hose and branch handling to use of breathing apparatus to carry out casualty search and rescue.

The Introduction to Industrial Fire Fighting course syllabus includes:

  • Fire ground communications
  • Chemistry of fire
  • Hose Running exercises
  • Use of secondary firefighting media
  • Hydrant drills
  • Branch handling techniques
  • Practical training and team work skills utilising various fire simulators
  • Hot Fire exercises incorporating bunds, split flange, plant and vehicle
Helicopter Firefighting

Helicopter Firefighting

This course aims to provide helicopter fire team members with the knowledge and skills required to respond to a helicopter incident.  Delegates will gain an understanding of practical training in helicopter firefighting and rescue.

The Helicopter Firefighting course syllabus includes*:

  • Raised helipad fire-fighting
  • Internal and external kerosene fires
  • Internal and external gas fires
  • Flashover
  • Carbonaceous fires
  • Confined space

*Please note: Raised Helipad Fire-fighting, initial training, refresher and team leader courses are available. Syllabus and duration is bespoke depending on clients training needs.

Fire Team Member

Fire Team Member

Newcastle International Training Academy is JOIFF accredited. This three-day Fire Team Member course will enable first responders to protect assets and lives in the event of an industrial fire incident.

Length of Course 

  • 3-day course

The Fire Team Member course syllabus includes:

  • The understanding of incident command, JESIP and Methane
  • The understanding of effective communications
  • The understanding of scene management and post incident considerations
  • Practical firefighting tactics and techniques with LPG and pressurised fuel fire incidents
  • Search and rescue with casualty handling
  • The use of portable fire equipment / Foam Branches / Line Inductors / Ground Monitors

Please note: Due to the physical nature of this course, candidates are required to verify they have been medically assessed, and deemed fit and able to undertake course activities prior to attendance. Candidates attending this course must be currently certified as competent in the role of Breathing Apparatus Wearer. To gain access airside, all students must be in possession of either a valid passport or photo type driving licence.

Fire Team Member Revalidation

Newcastle International Training Academy is JOIFF accredited. This three-day Fire Team Member Revalidation course will enable first responders to protect assets and lives in the event of an industrial fire incident.

Length of Course 

  • 2-day course

The Fire Team Leader course syllabus includes:

  • Practical firefighting tactics and techniques with LPG and pressurised fuel fire incidents
  • Search and rescue with casualty handling
  • The use of portable fire equipment, foam branches, line inductors and ground monitors

Please note: Due to the physical nature of this course, candidates are required to verify they have been medically assessed, and deemed fit and able to undertake course activities prior to attendance. Candidates attending this course must be currently certified as competent in the role of Breathing Apparatus Wearer. To gain access airside, all students must be in possession of either a valid passport or photo type driving licence.
