Low Risk

Low Risk

This confined space course specifically concentrates on low risk shallow entries with adequate ventilation, natural or mechanical, where access is simple and unobstructed and there is no likely risk of flooding.

Therefore, it’s for entries no deeper than 3 metres, with an unobstructed vertical lift, a straight ladder into a dark chamber.

Length of Course 

  • 1-day course

The Low Risk course syllabus includes:

  • Use of fall arrest and retrieval equipment
  • Appropriate ladder climbing techniques
Medium Risk

Medium Risk

This course specifically concentrates on medium risk entries with adequate ventilation, natural or mechanical, where access is simple and unobstructed and there is no likely risk of flooding.

Therefore, it’s for entries deeper than 3 metres, with an unobstructed vertical lift, a straight ladder into a dark chamber.

Length of Course 

  • 2-day course

The Medium Risk course syllabus includes:

  • Two methods of entry
  • Staying on lifeline to complete the task
  • Equipment usage
  • Removal from the lifeline
High Risk

High Risk

This course is designed to enable a competent person to conduct a risk assessment prior to gaining entry into a confined space, therefore ensuring all specified risks have been identified which will ensure suitable and sufficient control measures have been implemented, allowing the risk to remain as low as reasonably practicable. 

Length of Course 

  • 3-day course

The High Risk course syllabus includes:

  • Identifying risks 
  • Set description and fault finding
  • Introduction to breathing apparatus
  • Donning and starting procedures
  • Safe doffing procedures
  • A range of structures including shafts, vessels, tunnels, voids etc
  • Using a man-riding winch and retrieval device connected to a davit or tripod to gain entry
  • Working in confined space and heights in industrial and urban environments
