Airport Security

At Newcastle Airport, we’re committed to making your journey as smooth and stress-free as possible. If you have a disability or need extra support, here’s what to know about getting through security.

Getting Ready for Security

Pack smart: Place any liquids (max 100ml), electronics, and personal items into your hand luggage before you reach the security area.

Mobility aids & medical devices: These are welcome but may be screened separately. Let a member of our team know if you need help.

Please note: double-skinned containers (like thermos flasks) can’t be scanned—even if empty—so they can’t go through security.

At the Security Checkpoint

Place your coat or jacket in a tray, and pop your hand baggage on top.

Our team will explain the next steps and help you through the process at your own pace.

If selected for a body scan, we’ll ask if you're able to stand for a few seconds. If not, we’ll provide an alternative screening option.

Prefer not to use the scanner? Just let us know—we can arrange a private search.

Medical Needs & Equipment

You’re welcome to bring essential medication or medical equipment in your hand luggage.

Please carry a prescription or letter from a medical professional to help speed up the process.

These items will go through a separate screening, and our staff will assist with care and discretion.

Devices Like Pacemakers or Stoma Bags

Body scanners are safe for passengers with pacemakers, defibrillators, or similar medical implants.

If you use a stoma bag or other medical appliance, our staff are trained to handle these situations with sensitivity and respect.
