Job Summary

As our Kitchen Assistant, you will strive to provide the highest standard of preparation of meals for our customers as required. Other duties will include the monitoring and maintenance of stock levels ensuring that the highest standard of cleanliness and food hygiene is followed at all times.

Job Responsibilities

The following responsibilities are associated with this job role:

  • Preparation, cooking and serving of food
  • Ensuring that food is presented well to a high standard
  • Following food hygiene legislation, you will ensure that food is stored and maintained safely
  • Strive to reduce wastage levels and dispose of food in the appropriate manner
  • Conduct fridge temperature checks and record results as necessary
  • Maintain the highest cleaning standards within your kitchen environment
  • Have responsibility of stock rotation ensuring sufficient stock levels are maintained
  • Ensure that any cleaning chemicals are correctly and safely stored
  • Comply with Swissport Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
  • Maintain the highest standards of safety at all times

Commis Chef - Alpha LSG

What is the purpose of the role?

We have a fantastic opportunity for Commis Chefs to join our culinary team, where you will have responsibility for preparing, cooking and presenting a range of dishes, supported by the wider kitchen team. As a Commis Chef within either our Cold or Hot Kitchens you will develop and produce meals for business and economy class airline customers and participate in food presentations to airline customers. You must:

  • Be very familiar with authentic and conventional, as well as contemporary ingredients, with a detailed knowledge of, and experience in, preparing different cuisines.

General Assistant - Alpha LSG

Salary: Meets National Minimum and Living Wage

Working in our Newcastle unit, you will play a vital role in ensuring that flights are fully catered and depart on time. You will be responsible for handling, preparing and packing food to the standard set by each of the airlines we serve within a specified time.

Contracts are for up to 40 hours per week until October 2017 working shifts on a rota basis and will include a mixture of evening and weekends.

About You

  • You must have a flexible and enthusiastic approach to work
  • You must enjoy working as part of team in a fast moving environment where deadlines are tight to ensure that flights depart on time.
  • Basic numeracy skills
  • Basic checking skills
  • Be willing to maintain a clean and safe workstation, working in a manner that promotes good health and safety practices, wearing any personal protective equipment provided.
  • Be willing to undertake some manual handling/bending and reaching as part of your normal duties.

If you are successful we will provide you with full training on all our processes and systems. Contract: Part-time / Permanent

Salary: National Minimum wage, overtime available

Delivery of catering supplies to airline customers at Newcastle International Airport, loading and unloading of goods and bars. Provision of crew transport from airline crew room to customer aircraft. Some warehouse duties included. Vehicles are transit type and size.

Work as part of a friendly team, successful applicants should be able to work to tight schedules to achieve exacting operational requirements and thrive on going the extra mile for their customer.

Ensure Health, Safety, Security and Company policies and procedures are adhered to at all times and comply with airport legislation around inflight supplies (DFT, etc)

Clean driving licence essential.

Full training will be given on all aspects of the job and the equipment used.
