Summer 19 is hotting up thanks to Jet2.com and Jet2holidays

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has today announced a ‘hol lot more sun’ for Summer 19 from Newcastle Airport. With flights and holidays going on sale today, this marks the company’s biggest ever summer programme from the base.

On the back of a bumper Summer 18 programme, there is even more growth in response to demand for Summer 19. The addition of almost 55,000 seats means that over 930,000 seats are going on sale, a 6% capacity increase, which also means a larger Boeing 737-800 coming into the fleet at Newcastle Airport.

The leading leisure airline and package holiday specialist will fly to 32 sun and city destinations in Summer 19, and holidaymakers can look forward to more flights and holidays to some of their favourite destinations such as the Balearic Islands, Mainland Spain, the Algarve, Greece and Turkey. The additional flights and holidays are as follows:

  • Alicante – increase to 12 services per week means a 16% increase in capacity
  • Canary Islands – 11 weekly services to the Canaries (Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote)
  • Faro – daily services and larger Boeing 737-800 aircraft for weekday services means a 16% increase in capacity
  • Majorca – increased number of services means 12 flights every week and a 9% increase in capacity
  • Menorca – 26% in capacity thanks to three weekly services
  • Halkidiki – more seats thanks to services on larger Boeing 737-800 aircraft
  • Zakynthos – additional Wednesday service means two weekly flights and a capacity increase of 15%
  • Antalya - season extended to meet strong demand with services from March through to November

Today’s announcement comes in response to continued demand for great value package holidays from local holidaymakers. With more services and frequencies, they are spoilt for choice when it comes to where and when they would like to getaway, with more flexible durations available.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “We are putting our biggest ever summer programme on sale from Newcastle Airport, with over 930,000 seats going on sale for Summer 19. The addition of a larger Boeing 737-800 aircraft represents another huge investment in our base here, and gives local holidaymakers even more choice and flexibility with our award winning airline and tour operator. Yet another summer of growth here at Newcastle Airport is only possible thanks to our loyal customers, and it shows that our hard work in offering them great value package holidays and family friendly flights is working.”

Nick Jones, Chief Executive Officer at Newcastle International Airport, said: “It’s great to see Jet2.com and Jet2holidays announce their biggest ever programme from Newcastle and the company’s further investment – replacing one of its current based aircraft with a larger Boeing 737-800 – is testament of its commitment to the region.

“Greece continues to be a favourite with our passengers thanks to mix of stunning beaches, centuries-old sights and laid-back towns, so the larger aircraft flying to Jet2.com’s newest Greek destination, Halkidiki, and the increased number of flights to Zante are sure to be well received. On top of this, the extended season to Antalya will provide even more choice across the year for those choosing Turkey.”

Last month, the award-winning airline Jet2.com celebrated 15 years of flying, and package holiday specialist Jet2holidays recently celebrated both its 10th anniversary and becoming the UK’s second largest tour operator. The company continues to win a number of awards for its VIP customer service, and recently expanded its Free Resort Flight Check-In service to Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura, meaning customers in nine destinations and 250 hotels can now securely drop their bags off on the last day of their holiday, making their flight home quicker, easier and more convenient.
