Local company Enviro-point teams up with Newcastle Airport to provide portable hygiene kits to passengers
Cramlington based company Enviro-point has secured an agreement to provide portable hygiene kits to passengers flying from the North East’s largest airport.
As part of Newcastle Airport’s ‘Ten Point Plan’ to ensure the terminal is a safe environment when flights resume it is a requirement for passengers to wear masks when inside the terminal building.
Enviro-point vending machines are to be installed to provide innovative new ‘Travel Safe Portable Hygiene Kits’ should passengers require to purchase PPE for their journey.
Packed in a reusable travel size pouch, each kit contains:
• 2 x 3 ply disposable face masks
• 2 x pairs of gloves
• 1 x packet of 10 disinfectant wipes
• 1 x 100ml hand sanitiser
• 1 x re-usable travel pouch
The family run business, established in 2004, operates luggage weighing kiosks, passenger services and travel retail stores in airports across the UK and Internationally. Priding themselves on giving passengers ‘peace of mind and a hassle free airport experience’, the COVID-19 crisis led them to create the innovative new hygiene kit, with an introductory price of £7.50.
Enviro-point Retail Director Graeme Stewart said “As a business we have had to re-assess and look for new innovative operational processes and products to comply with new safety measures surrounding COVID-19.
“The ethos behind the kits is to provide confidence to travellers and peace of mind that they are compliant with new safety measures to protect themselves and fellow travellers.”
Dean Ward, Head of Commercial at Newcastle Airport said “The safety of our passengers and staff remains our number one priority. We have been working very hard to implement a new ‘Ten Point Plan’ to ensure the terminal is a safe environment for staff and passengers.”
Whilst we are encouraging all passengers to bring their own face masks to wear in the terminal, we’re aware some people may either forget or be unable to source a face mask. Enviro-point’s innovative new kits are an excellent addition and will provide passengers with additional peace of mind that enhanced PPE is available within the terminal should they require it.”
Last week Newcastle Airport announced its ’Ten Point Plan’ ahead of welcoming passengers back to the Airport. The plan ensures the terminal is a safe environment for passengers and staff as flights resume operating from the region.
Measures include enhanced cleaning regimes, mandatory face masks for passengers within the building and social distancing measures throughout the terminal.
