Newcastle International Airport Training Academy are accredited to deliver Level 2 & 3 Association of First Aiders First Aid Qualifications (AoFAQ). Emergency First Aid at Work

This one day course is designed for people who want to may require training for professional purposes. The Emergency First Aid at Work qualification is particularly suited for nominated first aiders in smaller, low risk working environments.

First Aid at Work - Initial Training

The three day First Aid at Work course provides delegates with the practical skills required to become confident at providing first aid in the workplace by providing those who undertake the training with the ability and knowledge to deal with emergencies. This course meets the standards required to comply with health and safety regulations.

First Aid at Work - Revalidation Training

This two day course is aimed at those who have already undertaken the First Aid at Work training, but need to requalify or update their skills to be able to renew their First Aid at Work certificate.

Our first aid course materials and handouts are used in conjunction with current HSE First Aid at Work legislation and guidance. Delegates are assessed at the end of the course on their knowledge and practical skills.

Paediatric First Aid (QCF Level 3)

The AoFAQ Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid is an exciting qualification designed for anyone who would like to become qualified in administering first aid to children and infants.

It is ideal for those who work with or come into contact with infants and children in their working or voluntary role. The qualification is also ideal for parents, babysitters and families with young children.

This regulated first aid qualification is specific to infants under the age of 1, and children aged from 1 year old to the onset of puberty.

The AoFAQ Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid is a regulated qualification awarded by AoFA Qualifications, an Ofqual recognised Awarding Organisation. The qualification is valid for three years.

The course syllabus includes:

  • Responsibilities of the Paediatric First Aider
  • Assess an emergency situation safely
  • Unresponsive and breathing normally
  • Unresponsive and not breathing normally
  • Foreign body airway obstruction
  • External bleeding
  • Shock
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Injuries to bones, joints and muscles.
  • Head and spinal injuries.
  • Conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose
  • Chronic medical condition or sudden illness
  • Effects of extreme heat or cold
  • An electric shock
  • Burns or scalds
  • Poisons
  • Bites and Stings
  • Minor Injuries

The AoFAQ Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and the Safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (QCF)

This qualification is recommended as training for first aiders in the workplace environment who have access to a defibrillator.

Compliance and Regulatory Requirements:

This Qualification provides learners with the skills and knowledge to deal with a person having a heart attack or cardiac arrest. It meets the recommendations from the HSE covering the provision and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in the workplace.

It conforms with the recommendations from the UK Resuscitation Council and it is further approved by the Association of First Aiders for the use of an AED both within and outside of the workplace. It is suitable for all first aiders and people who come into contact with individuals in risk of suffering with a cardiac arrest.

The topics covered are regarded by Skills for Health as being important to maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillation.

Course Duration: 5 hrs.
