One month to go until the return of United Airlines

Final preparations are underway ahead of the return of United Airlines’ service to New York/Newark which commences in just one month’s time.

As the countdown begins, thousands of holidaymakers and business travellers have already booked on the service, which will operate daily except Wednesday from 26th May 2016.

With United’s impressive route network allowing over 300 onward connections from its Newark hub, the service is proving popular for a number of trips including Florida, Las Vegas, Chicago, Washington, Boston, Toronto, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

John Irving, Business Development Director at Newcastle International Airport, said: “Preparations are well underway as we await the return of United Airlines at Newcastle.

“The team planning the service have been covering a range of different areas needed to operate the service including maintenance, catering, passenger handling services, cargo, flight operations and crew accommodation.

“We are delighted the service will now run six days a week and passengers are making the most of United’s excellent route network to connect onto numerous further afield destinations.

“In addition to UK residents travelling on to North America for business or leisure, the service makes the North East of England much more accessible for inbound travel from the States.

“Work has also been done to promote the service across the North East, Cumbria and North Yorkshire through visits to travel agencies, advertising and through sponsorship deals within and outside the airport.”

“We are excited to return to Newcastle this summer,” said Bob Schumacher, United’s Managing Director Sales – U.K. and Ireland. “Our flights offer business and leisure travellers convenient access to New York City as well as connections across the Americas. Through our New York hub, we can connect our customers directly to over 100 great destinations including Chicago, Miami, Las Vegas, San Francisco and Los Angeles.”
