Academy organises bespoke yacht training

Newcastle Airport Fire Training Academy has begun to provide training with a market leading company in the management of luxury yachts.

Compartmental and helicopter fire training is required in preparation for the launch of a new yacht which is currently undergoing sea trials.

The team at the Academy were able to design a bespoke course tailored to this client involving flashover, internal gas, liquid and carbon fires. The course took place over three days, culminating in Helicopter Firefighting using our raised platform helicopter simulator.

One course participant commented: "This was one of the best firefighting courses that I have attended. The whole fire station with its class rooms provided an excellent training center to which I would recommend to anybody looking to attend a similar course. The training ground provided a vast degree of different scenarios which was very beneficial to see and really opened my eyes towards how to tackle aviation fires. It ws an all round an excellent course."

Tim Oakes, Training Academy Manager, said "This is another clear example of what we can offer here at the Newcastle Airport Fire Training Academy. We speak with the client, understand their needs and exceed expectations."
