Anton du Beke quicksteps into Newcastle for Flying Start
Strictly Come Dancing star Anton du Beke quickstepped his way to Newcastle this week in support of British Airways' Flying Start initiative to raise money for Comic Relief.
Anton touched down at Newcastle International Airport on Red Nose Day (Friday 13 March) to help boost the fund-raising efforts of British Airways staff, who have already raised £9.2 million worldwide for the charity.
During a quick "waltz" through the airport, Anton taught some dance moves to staff and passengers in the terminal before doing a "shuffle" across to the British Airways contact centre in Newcastle Business Park to meet staff there and "tap" into their support for Flying Start.
Angela Sumner-Cook, British Airways manager at Newcastle International Airport, said, "We're delighted that Anton agreed to join us as part of our Flying Start activities on Red Nose Day.
"Millions have watched him glide gracefully across the dance floor since Strictly Come Dancing first appeared on our television screens in 2004, so to have him with us in Newcastle is a great boost to British Airways' staff in our efforts in support of Flying Start."
David Laws, Chief Executive at Newcastle International Airport, said: "We're delighted that Anton is supporting British Airways and Comic Relief.
"British Airways' Heathrow service is a vital link for North East business and leisure travellers and one which sees nearly half a million passengers each year. We're pleased to support our airline partner with this activity."<o:p></o:p>
