Drone Safety
The restrictions on flying drones near airports and airfields have recently changed.
It is now illegal to fly a drone above 400ft or within 5km of an airfield. You are not permitted to fly a drone within this restricted zone, at any time, unless you have permission from Air Traffic Control at the airport.
The map below shows the no-fly zone surrounding Newcastle Airport. It is a criminal offence to fly a drone in this area, failure to adhere to this may result in a prison sentence.

When you fly a drone in the UK it is your responsibility to be aware of the rules that are in place to keep everyone safe. Follow these steps to make sure you are flying safely and legally:
Don’t fly near airports or airfields - it is illegal to fly within 5km of an airport
Remember to stay below 400ft (120m)
Observe your drone at all times – stay 150ft (50m) away from people and property
Never fly near aircraft
