Drone Safety

The restrictions on flying drones near airports and airfields have recently changed.

It is now illegal to fly a drone above 400ft or within 5km of an airfield. You are not permitted to fly a drone within this restricted zone, at any time, unless you have permission from Air Traffic Control at the airport.

The map below shows the no-fly zone surrounding Newcastle Airport. It is a criminal offence to fly a drone in this area, failure to adhere to this may result in a prison sentence.

Data from drones in this vicinity, which may include personal data, will be obtained, retained and shared with appropriate law enforcement agencies for the purposes of crime prevention & public safety. Please see our privacy policy for more information.
