Newcastle International Airport Training Academy are accredited to deliver Level 2 & 3  Association of First Aiders First Aid Qualifications (AoFAQ). AoFAQ is an awarding organisation recognised by Ofqual. When credibility and quality are paramount our AoFA qualifications give you confidence that we meet regulatory standards. 

The first aid training provided by Newcastle International Airport Training Academy is designed give the delegates the knowledge and understanding of practical life-saving skills that can prove vital in a medical emergency. 

We currently offer three first aid courses - Emergency First Aid at Work, First Aid at Work - Initial Training, First Aid at Work - Revalidation Training and Paediatric First Aid (QCF Level 3).

Our first aid courses are perfect for adults who may require a knowledge of these skills as requirement of their job, or for those who simply want to equip themselves with the tools to be able to help should they find themselves in an emergency situation.

Emergency First Aid at Work

This one day course is designed for people who want to may require training for professional purposes. The Emergency First Aid at Work qualification is particularly suited for nominated first aiders in smaller, low risk working environments.

The course syllabus includes: 

  • Managing an Incident/Accident safely
  • Prevent cross infection
  • Unconscious casualty
  • Cardio Pulmonary resuscitation
  • Choking
  • Bleeding & Wounds 
  • Shock
  • Minor injuries
  • Recording incidents & action taken
  • First Aid Equipment

First Aid at Work - Initial Training

The three day First Aid at Work course provides delegates with the practical skills required to become confident at providing first aid in the workplace by providing those who undertake the training with the ability and knowledge to deal with emergencies. This course meets the standards required to comply with health and safety regulations.

First Aid at Work - Revalidation Training

This two day course is aimed at those who have already undertaken the First Aid at Work training, but need to requalify or update their skills to be able to renew their First Aid at Work certificate.

Our first aid course materials and handouts are used in conjunction with current HSE First Aid at Work legislation and guidance. Delegates are assessed at the end of the course on their knowledge and practical skills.


Paediatric First Aid (QCF Level 3)

The AoFAQ Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid is an exciting qualification designed for anyone who would like to become qualified in administering first aid to children and infants.

It is ideal for those who work with or come into contact with infants and children in their working or voluntary role. The qualification is also ideal for parents, babysitters and families with young children.

This regulated first aid qualification is specific to infants under the age of 1, and children aged from 1 year old to the onset of puberty.

The AoFAQ Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid is a regulated qualification awarded by AoFA Qualifications, an Ofqual recognised Awarding Organisation. The qualification is valid for three years.

The course syllabus includes: 

  • Responsibilities of the Paediatric First Aider
  • Assess an emergency situation safely
  • Unresponsive and breathing normally
  • Unresponsive and not breathing normally
  • Foreign body airway obstruction
  • External bleeding
  • Shock
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Injuries to bones, joints and muscles.
  • Head and spinal injuries.
  • Conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose
  • Chronic medical condition or sudden illness
  • Effects of extreme heat or cold
  • An electric shock
  • Burns or scalds
  • Poisons
  • Bites and Stings
  • Minor Injuries
  • Records
