Compartment Fire Behaviour Training Course
Candidates will experience the practical and theoretical application of Compartmental Fire Behaviour which is a critical part of the Firefighter Initial and Revalidation training for RFFS Firefighting staff. This became a requirement, for all Aerodrome Licence holders, with the publication of the CAA Information Paper ‘Frameworks for Structured Learning Programmes’ in November 2009. The training applies to both ATP certificated courses and maintenance of competence schemes.
Newcastle international Airport (NIA) has formed a partnership with Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) to offer a range of Breathing Apparatus (BA) and Fire Behaviour Courses in a newly designed and constructed BA and compartment fire behaviour training facility. NFRS are an Edexcel Approved Centre delivering the full range of Edexcel Fire and Rescue Sector qualifications by fully qualified staff under the quality assurance banner. BTEC qualifications support the learning outcomes of our courses and the needs of our customers. They provide course students with reward for their achievement with a nationally recognised qualification. The BTEC process ensures that our courses have the backing of the Edexcel, which provides learners and their managers with the confidence that NIA and NFRS delivery is of the highest quality.

the behaviour of compartment fires.
Due to the physical nature of the course, candidates are required to verify they have been medically assessed, and deemed fit and able to undertake course activities prior to attendance. Candidates attending this course must be currently certified as competent in the role of a Breathing Apparatus Wearer. To gain access airside, all students must be in possession of either a valid passport or photo type driving licence.
