FedEx Express introduced express delivery to the world in 1973, and remains the world’s largest express transportation company.
In 1985 FedEx Express began regularly scheduled flights to Europe, with an overnight express delivery service between the US, Europe and Asia introduced by 1991. In 1999, FedEx Express launched the FedEx EuroOne® Network, opened a hub at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport in France and announced an expansion of its global network connecting Europe to Asia by a direct flight from its EMEA hub in Paris to its APAC hub in Subic Bay, the Philippines.
Continuing to build upon its commitment to providing the best express shipping service in and out of Europe, in 2006 FedEx acquired UK-based company ANC Express which has now been re-named as FedEx UK.
In 2007 FedEx Express announced it launched an express freighter flight directly linking Manchester, UK to its Memphis super-hub. Further supporting the economic growth of Northern England FedEx Express also implemented a new direct flight, connecting Newcastle to its European hub in Paris. This flight departs Newcastle International Airport daily Monday – Thursday.
The above two service enhancements increase daily capacity from the UK to US by 50% and add up to 20% daily capacity from Europe to the US. Both flight’s mean customers will also enjoy more convenient late pick-up times for their packages.
